Nestled in the hills of Saratoga Hakone Gardens
is comprised of 18 acres of beauty in all seasons. It
is the oldest Japanese-style residential gardens in
the Western Hemisphere.
Hakone Gardens has four unique gardens, twisting gravel
paths, waterfalls, a koi pond, a bamboo park and a replica
of a 19th century Kyoto tea merchant's home.
Guided tours are available April through September
on the weekends between 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.
Hakone Garden’s gift shop has unique Japanese
items.
Hakone Gardens is a great place for a wedding and reception;
and events such as birthday celebrations, anniversaries,
baby showers, memorial services, and engagement parties.
The gardens and buildings offer a unique setting unlike

The Hakone Foundation was formed in 1984. The Hakone
Foundation signed an exclusive 55-year lease with the
City of Saratoga in 2000 to carry out the foundation’s
mission to preserve, enhance and maintain Hakone for
future generations.
