In 1968 San Jose waged a successful consolidation campaign
that made Alviso part of the city of
San Jose.
Officially, there is no Alviso, California.
Much has remained unchanged since then.
However, there are new changes in the old town. Not
far from the new driving range and from those relatively
expensive homes that sell for half a million dollars
in new Alviso, is the multimillion-dollar Cisco facility.
Walk a few blocks and you are in the old Alviso, a small
town at the end of the bay where progress seems to have
stopped decades ago.
